Two nars products I have been loving recently

 Nars has to be my all time favourite make up brand! From what I have tried, several blushers, highlighters and eye shadows, I have always been impressed with the quality of the products. 

Nars douceur blush £21.50

I have wanted this blush for absolutely ages! In the pan, douceur looks pretty boring, a dull, dusty, matte pink. But oh my, how this changes and has fast become my favourite blush shade ever ever! I have read a lot of reviews saying that this blush gives 'super model cheekbones' and it certainly does! It gives so much structure to my face and even makes me look really healthy. I have been wearing this every day, slightly contoured in the hollows of my cheeks, for the past month. Seriously, this blush kicked orgasm's ass out of my favourite blush ever category! 

Nars Kalahari eye shadow duo £25.00

I am a self-confessed eye shadow addict! Funny considering I never worn it about a year ago! I just love anything neutral and shimmery! I have only one nars eye shadow, and it does not get much use, but I have always wanted this duo (along with many more).  One of the shadows in kalahari can be described as a pearly bronze and the other as a brown taupe shade. They compliment each other so well, yet can be worn alone. These last for ages without creasing and when used with a wet brush can go on really pigmented.

Make up storage

Muji acrylic wide draws

It's probably no surprise that I store my make up in muji draws! I used to store my make up all thrown into a basket in a random mess. It took me ages to find things and I often forgot I had certain products! Since I got these draws in summer they have seriously changed my daily make up routine (as odd as that is). It just makes grabbing everything so much easier and actually seeing what I have! They actually store a lot more than I initially thought! However, I do need another stack! Maybe I should just stop buying make up? The adorable cotton wool jar is from Abbey's shop, gifts and pieces. She sells the prettiest stuff, honestly check it out! Then the little bird letter holder is off ebay and neatly stores my naked 2 palette!

I've started a mac eye shadow palette

After a long time of waiting, I finally started a mac eye shadow palette! I've recently become eye shadow obsessed, funny considering about a half year ago that I never, ever worn them! I'm already in love with this palette, it gets used every day! The eye shadows are all really pigmented, compliment each other nicely and apply super easily! My favourite combo is naked lunch all over the lid and then satin taupe blended in the crease! As you can see my palette is looking very lonely with ten whole empty spaces! So I would love some recommendations to splurge on when I've done my spending ban (which has not been going to well as of recently, try harder kelly!)

Berry shades for autumn with Revlon & competition

Revlon's lip butter in raspberry pie* & berry smoothie*

I've always been a huge fan of Revlon lip butters, in fact, they are my favourite lipsticks! I own three other shades, which I posted about here! What makes them my favourite lipsticks is the quality of them, the lovely creamy formula and the colour pay off (as well as having a great shade range!).

As we all know dark red and berry lips are all the rage this autumn and winter, brightening up any miserable day! I think raspberry pie is the perfect shade for people who may not want to go full out with the whole 'vampy' red shades this autumn, but still want a flush of deep colour! It's perfect for me, I'm yet to feel fully confident wearing a very dark lip, so this lipstick is the perfect inbetween for me! This particular shade lasts really well on the lips, as it sightly stains the lips also, so top up's aren't needed as often compared to if you were wearing a lighter shade.

Berry smoothie has the perfect shade name as it really describes the colour of the product, just like a berry smoothie. This isn't as bold as raspberry pie, but it's still a lovely shade to wear this autumn winter! It's a great everyday colour and it's really moisturising too!

Elf studio blushers

Peachy keen & tickled pink

(sorry the swatches aren't too clear)

Now I do love a good Nars blusher, but my student bank account doesn't! So I like to keep my blushers cheap and cheerful. After falling out with an elf studio blusher in the past, I wanted to give them a second chance so I bought peachy keen, a peach toned blusher with a small amount of golden shimmer and tickled pink, a light pink matte shade.

Now both blushes are lovely! But tickled pink has become one of my all time favourite blushers (yes even over Nars orgasm!) It's just the perfect natural looking blush which gives the skin such a lovely delicate flush of colour. I honestly can't describe how much I love this shade!

Both blushes have pretty good wear time, are fab value for money, come in sturdy packaging with a mirror and aren't chalky in the slightest! My faith has been restored in elf studio blushers!

My face cosmetics: my mix foundation

I feel that my mission in life is to find the perfect foundation. I must of tired hundreds of them. But I never seem to find 'the one'! So my adventure continued and I bought this foundation to try. What I really like about this foundation is the shade range. It has different shades of light, medium and dark, so you can really try to find one to suit your skin tone! I'm very pale, a Mac NC15, but I chose fair 02, which is more warmer than my an NC15 but actually works well for me. I find that this foundation really adapts to my skin tone and blends in so well!

I would say this provided medium buildable coverage and left a lovely dewy, but not that 'over the top' dewy finish to my skin. It makes me look healthy, natural and awake and feels really light on the skin! However, as always, the one thing that lets me down with foundations is the lasting time! I find that this doesn't last all that long to be honest, baring in mind I have oily skin! I've nearly used this up and I don't think a re-purchase will happen because I'm still on the hunt for the foundation that just won't budge!

Please can you recommend me any super long lasting foundations?

Poundland finds

Stila SPF 30 sheer colour tinted moisturiser £1

This is my first ever Stila product because basically I haven't been able to afford them. That's why I can't get over the fact that I paid a pound for this! In the shop they only had one shade, shade light 03, which isn't to great as this is a teeny bit dark on my skin. But blended in well it does look fine and gives my skin a healthy glow and for a pound you can't complain. I'm not sure how much these were before they hit Poundland shelves, but I can imagine it was way over £1. I'll review this when I've used it fully!

Revlon sunshine sparkle £1

Lets just put it out there that Revlon nail polishes cost around £7 and I got this little beauty for £1. I've always had my eye on a yellow Revlon nail polish and I'm sure it was this one. I can't wait to wear this with my favourite white summer dress, if the sun comes out that is. It has a tiny amount of shimmer in it, which is really pretty!

Elf haul

As probably most of you may know, elf recently did a 50% discount code and it didn't take long for me to take full advantage of this offer and try some new products! Ill do reviews once I have used the products a little more.

Eyes

Up until about six months ago I never wore eye shadow and I think I'm making up for lost time as now I can't stop wearing it and going eye shadow crazy. I picked up two colours, a dark grey/black and a purple along with a new eye shadow brush. I also bought the studio cream eyeliner in black, which is a firm favourite of mine!

Lips

Just like eye shadows I've never really been a huge lipstick fan, mainly due to having really dry lips and ending up having croissant lips if I even go near lipstick. However, I've convinced myself that there are lipsticks out there that won't give me the croissant effect! Lets hope these aren't too drying and the lip lock pencil helps prolong lipstick wear!

Face

 make up mist & set, mineral infused face primer, blush in tickled pink & blush in peachy keen

I had a bad relationship with a studio blush once, so I wanted to put this all behind me and try out some more, even blushers deserve a second chance right? Due to having oily skin I prefer to set my make up with powder, but this instantly takes away the dewy finish of my foundations, so I bought the makeup mist and set to set my make up in a different way. So far I've sprayed this in my hair and eyes, missed my face completely and drowned myself in it, which made my make up melt away. Less is more Kelly.

Heaven & earth vs undressed

Ever since I bought my heaven and earth palette I have been in love with the quality, price and pigment of the eye shadows. When I started to see little reviews of a newbie in town, the undressed palette, I just knew I had to get it!

Both palettes costs the same price at just a tiny £4, contain twelve eye shadows and are both neutral nude palettes. However there are some differences between the two.

The heaven and earth palette is a much more warmer palette, whereas undressed is much more cooler toned. Undressed consists of 9 shimmer shades and 3 matt shades, whereas heaven and earth is purely all shimmer shades.

What stood out to me the most about the undressed palette is the two blue toned shadows which compliment each other really well. Another thing which made me see these two palettes as completely different is the rosey gold toned shadows in the undressed palette.

As you can see from the swatches all of the heaven and earth palette is super pigmented. However, I've found with undressed that the matt shades (shades 1, 3 and 5) aren't that pigmented, especially shade 1. However, the shimmer shades are really pigmented 


Overall I think both palettes contain some similarities but mainly are quite different from each other. I guess it's up to you what you think about the two palettes, but I love them equally and shades from each palette can be mixed and matched however you choose!

Mac studio sculpt and studio fix foundations

Mac studio sculpt is a gel based foundation, so it's great for people with dry skin. However, I have oily skin and this foundation sits perfectly, without it looking oily. This foundation has medium to high coverage and leaves a slight dewy finish. One of my favourite things about it is the smell, it smells like Baileys! You get more product in this foundation than the studio fix, an extra 10ml, however it does cost a little more at £23. The lasting time of this foundation is really good, lasting nearly a full day. I find this doesn't stick to any dry patches or change colour throughout the day and is my favourite out of the two.

Mac studio fix is a matt foundation which provides high buildable coverage. Due to this being a matt foundation it is best for people with oily skin. However, one major downfall to this product is how it can fade quickly and cling to dry patches! I love the finish of this foundation, it covers everything and has such a high coverage. This foundation costs £19.50 and comes without a pump included in the price, so with a pump it costs £22.50. I've found with a good primer and moisturiser the lasting time and downfalls of this product can be improved.

Products i should use more often

Make up

Do you ever have them products that you forget you even had or neglect, which you actually really love? Well I decided I should start digging some things out which I should use more often. I got my nars larger than life lip gloss in the nars wicked attraction set, and ever since I've worn it about once. It's such a high quality lip gloss and a lovely everyday nude that I should start using it more. 

I lusted over topshop's highlighter in prism for ages, not too sure if you can still get it now though and I've barely used it since I bought it. Nars albatross is my favourite highlight at the moment, but I actually really like this one to give my a really nice pearly glow, whereas albatross is a golden highlighter, it would be nice to use this for a change.

I love my sleek contour kit, the bronzer is perfect for contouring as it's matt and the highlighter is gorgeous and I have no idea why this hasn't been used for so long. Back into my make up bag you go.

Skin care

simple oil balancing facial scrub, boots tea tree and witch hazel treatment gel & clarins extra-firming body cream

I'm quite lazy when it comes to exfoliation. I tend not to do it because my liz earle cleanse and polish gently exfoliates when I use that and I don't want to be to harsh on my skin. However, the simple oil balancing facial scrub is really gentle and helps control my oily skin. I think it would be good to get this back into my routine. 

I love the smell of tea tree oil and I really like the idea of it's healing and anti-bacterial properties, especially for problem skin. I didn't find that when I used to use this it actually helped prevent or calm any spots, but it certainly made my skin feel clean and prevent any bacterial build up, nice! For that reason I should start using it again!

Completely forgot I had this from a glossy box, can't remember which one though. I really like the smell and would like to start using it to firm and moisturise my skin. It cost £40 full sized, so it must be amazing right?

Hair care

I love hair care products, I own so many different things it's easy to forget I have certain things. One thing I haven't forgot I had, but neglect due to laziness is my heat protection spray, lee stafford poker straight flat iron protection shine mist, huge name. I'm trying to look after my hair a little more, however, I can't live without heat styling tools so this needs to get used more. It smells lovely and doesn't weigh down my hair or leave it greasy looking, it's perfect.

I've had both the umberto giannini overnight beauty moisture balm and instant leave in conditioner for ages, but just simply haven't been using them. They both make my hair feel and smell amazing, leaving it really conditioned and soft. I forgot how good these were, welcome back into my life.

Nars albatross highlighting powder

Nars albatross can only be described as the perfect powder highlighter for me. In the pan albatross looks like a pale frosty yellow, with barely any shimmer present and when swatched it looks like a chalky white powder. However, once applied to your cheek bones it transforms and becomes a beautiful, light catching, golden shimmery shade, which really defines the cheek bones. Trust me on this one, it's beautiful.

A tiny amount of product is all that's needed and it picks up really well onto a brush, without it going everywhere in a huge powdery mess. Due to this being quite a golden shimmery shade I like to apply this before my powder, so it's not too heavy and sets nicely. Currently I've been wearing this with Nars orgasm, and even though they both contain shimmer, they both look amazing together. I seriously can't fault this product, there are no flecks of glitter and the shimmer is perfect and can be toned down if needed. This also makes the perfect brow bone highlighter and highlights the inner corner of the eye when wearing a shimmery smokey eye beautifully.

How pretty can a lipstick get? It reminds me of the pretend lipsticks I used to have when I was younger, which were just covered in glitter and were bright pink, but don't worry it doesn't come out like this on the lips at all. It reacts to your natural lip colour so provides you with a unique shade to suit your skin tone, how exciting, so your colour will probably be a little different from mine. I actually really like the colour that it comes out on my lips, so I will be getting a lot of use out of this product. At first it comes out quite clear, but then you can see the colour developing. 

I found that this product is not drying at all and is quite moisturising on the lips, this is probably due to it being a lip tint and being quite lip balm like. As with any lip products I always use a lip scrub before I apply it, my favourite is the lush lip scrubs and this helps to get rid of any dry skin that the product might cling to. The colour lasts a of couple hours before another application is needed, but this doesn't bother me as most lip products do. This might not show up on darker lip colours, due to it being a lip tint, however it may provide you with a darker colour as it adapts to your natural lip colour, so have a little test out before you buy. I do love this product and just had to buy it, I just found the packaging was beautiful, along with the neon pink glitter filled lipstick and the whole 'unique shade' concept quite exciting, it's just a shame it's limited addition.
